Terrence Higgins links up with CTT

May 2003 -    New Media Age
AIDS charity Terrence Higgins Trust has linked up with Charity Technology Trust (CTT) as it begins a campaign to communicate more directly with its supporters and people with HIV.

CTT will be handling email management for the charity. The deal marks a collaboration between the charity, CTT and Advocacy Online. The latter designed and hosts the Terrence Higgins Trust Web site and also provides the software and databases that allow people to contact the charity.

Through CTT, Terrence Higgins Trust will run four campaigns a year. Martin Kirk, campaigns and parliamentary officer at Terrence Higgins Trust explained: "We're using CTT to really maximise the opportunities that we provide our supporters with. There's a lot of integration with our fundraising activities."

This week 636 employees of leading City firms signed up as potential volunteers in an online registration drive by an East London Business Volunteering Agency (ELBA).

The e-mail campaign was implemented by Charity Technology Trust. ELBA were very pleased with the results. Liam Lane, Chief Executive of ELBA said: "Direct appeals for charitable giving elicit response rates of between 0.5 and 5%. Asking people to give of their time is a tougher challenge and we didn't know what to expect. We obtained an average response of 7% across the total staff e-mail recipients in the six companies. If this translates into volunteers on the ground it will represent a great boost to the number of active volunteers in East London"

The Prince's Trust has linked with Charity Technology Trust to run an online raffle tied to Capital FM's party in the Park to help raise money for young people in the UK.

The Prince's Trust is the UK's leading youth charity offering 14 to 30 year olds opportunities to develop confidence, learn new skills, get to work and start businesses.

Peter Sweatman of CTT said: "The Prince's Trust online raffle illustrates how the UK's leading charities are creatively using the internet and the preferred communication channels of the young donor"

Fundraising information portal UK Fundraising is to use Charity Technology Trust's email delivery tool in an attempt to offer fundraisers greater functionality.

January 2003 - New Media Age
The deal will see UK Fundraising using the latest technology service from the Charity Technology Trust, CTT Mail, to power its fortnightly free newsletter to 6,000 fundraisers.

CTT Mail has been designed to run at a low cost specifically for the charity sector. The service is run through a new trading company, CTT Communications, and has already been used by a number of charities including Red Cross, Samaritans, Royal British Legion and the National Trust.

"We're keenly aware of the need to offer our fundraisers relevant information in an easy-to-use format, ensuring that our relationship with them meets their needs," said UK Fundraising founder Howard Lake. "I've been in contact with CTT for the past 18 months and I like its approach to the use of technology to benefit the whole charities themselves." The trust offers charities a fixed price for setup and running of email campaigns. It'll also offer them a complete managed service.
